Unlocking Social Justice and Welfare system In Society in the Light f John Rawls Theory of Justice
Résumé
Nigeria is plagued by a multitude of ethnic and political issues. The British government's colonial occupation of the country is the cause of this. As a result, the country is divided along ethnic lines and people today live in inequity. These discrepancies cause crises because national resources are allocated in an unequal manner. Ethnic relations are further strained as a result of Nigeria's many ethnic groups. However, when disadvantaged ethnic groups are protected by the constitution through mutual understanding and a willingness to change opinions to accommodate other people's needs, overlapping consensus—as defined by Rawls—can become a national consensus in a welfare state. A just and equitable welfare society must offer interethnic collaboration, peaceful coexistence, and positive relationships in a multiethnic state like Nigeria, where there is division, antagonism, unhealthy rivalry, and pronounced imbalances between the ethnic groups.
