Abstract
This study was on the interplay between child rearing practices and socio-cultural values of students in Owerri Educational Zone 1 in Imo State. Child rearing practices in Owerri impacts the society to a large extent, especially on students’ development. The paper reviewed literatures on the field and at the end encouraged parents to rise up to the occasion and encourage them in the homes to morality; plus the promotion of values which were hitherto held in high esteem; their children/students must learn to live according to the societal law, rules and regulations of the government as well as understand the socio-cultural values.
