THE ROLE OF ADULT EDUCATION IN HUMAN DEVELOPMENT IN THE 21ST CENTURY IN NIGERIA

Abstract

The right to education is recognized by most state constitution and national laws and is inherent in the right to education and is reflected in the various international declaration and treaties, these include the 1948 Universal Declaration of Human Rights of children,, woman, minorities, indigents, indigenous people with disabilities also have proclaimed the right to education of the target group of these international laws. Education is the bedrock of individual and national development. It is a process whereby skills, knowledge, values, norms and culture are transmitted from generation to generation for the sustenance of the society.
