The Fire Of Hell: Is It Possibly The Fire Of The Holy Spirit?
Resumen
The doctrine of hell is becoming one of the most unpopular themes in Christianity because a good number of theologians today are not interested in it and pastors hardly speak about it in their homilies. In fact, “many theologians either do not want to talk about it or completely dismiss its existence. Even forty years ago, Rahner remarked that the doctrine of hell was beginning to be a truth which no longer had any existential meaning for Christians.” However, it would be a mistake for one to think that being unpopular means that the doctrine has lost its grip on the conscience of millions of men and women in the society particularly those who were brought up in the traditional Christian faith. The lives and actions of these millions of people in the world continue to be molded and guided by the customary teaching of the Church on hell as the eternal damnation of all who died and left this world in a condition of absolute lack of communion with God.
