Acquiring the Basic Skills for Doing Theology In Context
Résumé
Obviously, any serious minded workman must have the necessary tools for his work in hand before setting out to do his job. The readily available tools bear eloquent witness that he is going to perform very well in the work. Therefore, a farmer may not expect a rich harvest if he has neither hoe nor digger, neither cutlass nor tractor. Surely, a carpenter must not be told to keep his saw, hammer, chisel, nail and wood by his side as he climbs the roof. A good driver must check the water, engine oil, the breaks and look at the tyres before zooming off, and otherwise, he may be embarrassed on the road. A teacher must have his book, biro pen, chalk, and other necessary materials at hand if he wants to impart relevant knowledge of his subject to his students.
