A Discourse on the Issues of Nigeria’s Constitutional Democratic System In The Light of John Rawls Political Conception of Justice

John Rawls' political theory is used in this work to analyze Nigeria's constitutional democratic issues. Particularly in the areas of political stability, ethnic politics, and the fair distribution of social and economic goods, it demonstrated that Nigeria is not a fully democratic country since the benefits of democracy have not been sufficiently realized. According to several ethnic crises and uprisings in the nation, social inequality in Nigeria is currently at an alarming rate, and society in general is starting to feel the effects of this in terms of their degree of dissatisfaction. In order to address the social and political issues brought forth by Nigeria's constitutional democracy, the paper made the case that Nigerian political leaders should embrace John Rawls' "overlapping consensus" philosophy.
